Read at The Riverside
Read at The Riverside is an extremely popular five week course aimed at year 3/4 pupils.
A series of books, which combine excitement and humour, for the core of the project.
Each week the children are engaged in a carousel of literacy rich activites that have been designed to be both interactive and kinaesthetic and closely linked to the literacy requirements of National Curriculum.
Supported by teachers, learning mentors and volunteers from the library service, the children work in small groups to explore the various genre of fictional stories. They work on sentence structure, the use of punctuation and vocabulary development, throughout the two hour session. In the ICT suite the focus is on spelling and structuring stories using the latest animation software.
